GHAZAL NO 1

chadta hai nashA ishque ka badta hai guma aour,
ghista hoon dare yaar pe, aata hai mazA aour,

tu dekh zara mere dil ka ye bura haal,
milta hai zami khaque mein, kahta hai saza aour, (zami khaq-earth dust)
(You see the bad condition of my heart,
It is ending into dust of earth and says give me more punishment)

parwAne se bhi puchh zara jalne mein maza kya, (parwane-lover of flame)
jalta hai shamA yaar pe uThta hai dhuAN aour,
(You just ask to fire insect(that loves the flame) that what enjoy he gets when sets fire himself, for us, as he gets fired for his
beloved flame only more smoke is produced )

sahrA mein kabhi ret pe na DhunD naqsh-e-qadam-yaar,
chalti hai hawa shaam ki miTte hai nisha aour,
(sahara -desert, naqsh-eqadam yaar- footprints of beloved)
(in a desert never looks for footprints of your beloved,
as, the wind blows in evening, the prints get vanished)

na aa kabhi in logo ki baato mein tu 'feroz',
dikhte ho, bhale apne se rakhte ahi zabaN aour,

(Feroz never trust on these people, they look as they are your friends
but they speak against you)

woh door se hi muskurata chala gayaa,
nazro mein naqshe-pAN banAtA chalaa gayaa,(naqshepa-foot prints)
(He went away with a smiling face,
and making foot prints in my eyes)

uske kha'to ko hum dil se lagaye the,
aour khat ke purze woh uData chalaa gayaa,
(I was holding his letters near to my heart,
and he went away throwing pieces of my letters)

woh be-khudi mein naam likhta tha haath per,(bekhudi-unconsciousness)
aayA jo hosh to miTata chalaa gayaa,
(During unconsciousness he wrote my
name on his hand, and deleted when got conscious)


ponchhe the aansu usne jis aankh se kabhi,
woh aaj kyon use rulAtA chalaa gayaa,
(Once he wiped tears from my eyes
today, why he went away letting them tearful)

us ajnabi se ko'ii rish'tA na ban sakA,
woh gair tha, ye bhi batAtA chalaa gayaa,
(I could not make any relation with that stranger,
he went away telling me, he was a stranger)

jo ghar kabhi humne banaye the ret par,
guzara udhar woh jab girAtA chalaa gayaa,
(We made together some houses on sand
he demolished them, when he went there)

shaayad khayAl tha, mera shakh'sh woh 'feroz',
ye soch mein use bhulAtA chalaa gayaa,
('Feroz' ! That person might be only my imagination
So, I went away thinking in this way)

nazar ko ab bhi tera intzaar rahta hai,
sahar se shaam ye dil be-qaraar rahta hai, (sahar-morning)
(My eyes are still waiting for you,
my heart is impatient from morning to evening)

kafas mein guzre bhale zindagi parindo ki,(kafas-cage)
wahaan bhi shok-e-nishaate bahaar rahta hai,(shok-fond of, nishat-joy)
(If birds spend out their whole life in a cage,
but there also, they are fond of enjoying the spring)

na tum girao wo ghar jo wiran dikhta hai,
wahan pe ab bhi ko'ii gham-ghusar rahta hai,(gham-ghusar- sympathizer )
(don't demolish that house looking deserted,
my sympathizer is still living there)

na feNk dil se meri yaad ko tu is tar'haa,
dil-e-makaa mein bhi tAk-e-diwar rahta hai,(makaa-house, tAk-rack)
(Don't discard my memories from your heart
you can keep it, there may be a rack in the wall of heart)

kabhi wahan se dhu'aa chulho se bhi uthta tha,
jahan pe aaj woh dasht-e-ghubar rahta hai,(dashteghubar- dusty cloud)
(once, from there, the smoke comes from house furnaces
today there exist only a dusty cloud)

ham apne shahar-e-wafa se bhi aaj darte hai,
wahaan pe ek be-wafa naamdAr rahta hai,(naamdar-famous)
(Now, I am scared of my city of loyalty
because a famous disloyal living there)

'Feroz' us gali mein ab koii nahin aata,
jahaan pe tu benawa khaaksaar rahta hai,
(benawa- a person having nothing, khaaksaar- poor)
('Feroz' now a days no one comes on that street
where you poor fellow live, )

GHAZAL NO 4

zami ki bhujhti hu'ii aankho mein kuchh khwab se dikhai diye, khwab jin par ka'ii dhu'eN ki lakire thi, gor se dekha to pata chala, wo lakire nahin, sarhade thi, jinhone zami ki tarah aaj uske kwabo bhi ko baant diya tha.

(I saw some dreams in tired eyes of earth, dreams on that there were some lines of smoke, in close view, I saw those were not the line but the boundaries, the boundaries, once, that divided the earth, now, have divided the dreams of earth itself)

miTa do apne dilo ki sarhad,
bhale rahe ye, zami ki sarhad,
khinchi hai humne lakire dil par,
banai humne dilo ki sarhad,

sarhade, jisne zami baanti, darya baanta, hawa baanti, khushiya banti insAn baanta aour aaj khuda baanta,

(Boundaries that divided earth, river, wind, happiness, and men, now have divided the God)

baTi hai duniyA, jahaaN to ek tha,
baTA hai insAN, khuda to ek tha,
banaye mandir, banai masjid,
bane khuda aour khuda ki sarhad,

(the earth is divided but the universe was one,
the men is divided but the God was one
we made temples and masques
and made many gods and their boundaries)

sarhado se kya paya humne, shayad ab humare paas hamari sarhado ke siwa kuch nahi hai, ab to woh gham bhi nahin rahe jo kabhi sarhado ne hume diye

(What did we get from boundaries, nothing, now we have nothing except our boundaries, even we don't have the sorrow gifted by boundaries )
kisi ko humne yahan diya kya,
kise se humne yahan liya kya,
ghamo ko deke ghamo ko paya,
ghamoN ki kesi kahan ki sarhad,

(What we gifted others,
What others gifted us,
we gifted sorrow and get back the same,
what and where, is the boundary of sorrow)

kabhi mene bhi ek sapna kharida tha,
sapna ek aesi zami ka sapna jis par koi sarhad na ho, aaj bhi woh ghar ke kisi kone mein rakha hai, is ummid se shayad kabhi sach ho,

(Once, I bought a dream, A dream of an undivided earth, It is still lying in a corner of my house, with the hope to be true)

jahaan ye sArA hai, ek baserA,
yehi hai tera yehi hai mera,
to aa'o milke miTa de saari,
zami ki sarhad, dilo ki sarhad,

(The whole world is like a home,
that is yours and mine too,

(Today my heart got relaxed,
Since I missed all of my old friends)

mout Aa'i to ye khayAl Aaya,
zindagi hum kahaan guzAr Aaye,…..2
(when I was dying, I thought,
where I have passed out my life)

Arzoo thi na koi, nA hasrat,
kyon tere dar pe bAr bAr Aye,…..3
(I didn’t have any desire or wish,
so why did I come to your house several times)

is jagah se karAr paake hum,
jab bhi Aye to be-karar Aaye,….4
(After getting relaxed here,
I always went un-relaxed)

jo kabhi the raqib mere wo,
ban ke kyon aaj gham-ghusAr Aaye…5
(raqib- competitor, Gham-gusar- person who shows sympathy)
(People, once, those were competitor to me,

umra bhar humko sataya aapne,
bebasi ka zarya banaya aapne,
(whole life you irritate me,

humko mahfil mein biTha ke saamne,
sabko diwana batAya aapne,
(You invite me in party, and locating at me you
told to the people, he is a mad one)

kar ke apne husn ki jAdoogari,
be-hayA mo'jazA dikhaya aapne, (be-haya- shamful, mo'jazA-miracle)
(By the magic spell of your beauty,
you showed a shameful miracle )

aap to hanste rahe khud aapme.
aour hume kitna rulAyA aapne,
(you laughed in yourself
and made me crying)

dur virAN mein kahiN tha ghar mera, (viraN- a lonely place)
ek nigah mein woh giraya aapne,
(My house was located at a lonely place
you demolished that in one gaze)

aadmi the kaam ke hum bhi kabhi,
aaj kya se kya banaya aapne,

Soz aour gham ko mene dil mein daba rakha hai, (soz-pain,)
kab'ra'gaah ek jise humne bepata rakha hai, (kabragah- graveyard)
( I kept buried, pain and sorrow in my heart,
My heart is like a graveyard at untold location)

woh sitamgar tha kabhi dilme jo dil se nikla, (sitamgar- a cruel person)
uske har zakh'ma ko kyon ab bhi hara rakha hai,
(He was a cruel one in heart, that have left now
Why you have kept wounds given by him afresh)

pat'to ko bhi tum darakhto se gira kar dekho, (darakhto-trees)
usne her shAkh mein kahin apna nishA rakha hai, (shaakh-branch, nisha-sign)
(You shed all leaves of trees and see
He (The God ) kept somewhere his sign in each branch)

dil mera ek liye afsaane kai lekin, (afsane- stories)
teri yaadoN ko tere gham se juda rakha hai,
(My heart is one, having several stories but
I kept your memories and your sorrow separately )

humko kAfir aaj buto kese kahte tum ho, (kafir- atheist, buto-idols)
apne dil mein bhi kabhi humne khuda rakha hai,
(Today, idols how can you call me an atheist
As, Once, I have kept God in my heart )

yadein wisal aai, aake kidhar gai, (wisal-to see beloved)
aahaT thi koi unki dil se guzar gai,
(The memories of my meetings with my beloved came
in my mind and has gone, just like a noisy passing of
something from heart)

moti ki tarah humne, jinhe kabhi rakha,
bunde giri wo, TuTkar fir bikhar gai,
(I kept tears like pearls,
but the drops got broken and spread when fell down)

tere dayAr ka kya zikra hum kare, (dayAr-place, )
har-su ghubAr tha, jahAN tak nazar gai, (har-su- everywhere, ghubar-dust)
(I cant say anything about the place where you belong,
I saw only dust, every where)

puchhe to kya kahun pareshaani ka sabab, (sabab-cause, reason)
unki nigah hi khud pareshaan kar gai,
(If she asks about cause of my tension, what I will say
since I am tensed due to her)

ab aour zindagi mein 'Feroz' gham na kar,
kuchh hi bachi hai aour bAki guzar gai,

('Feroz' you don't need to be panic in your life more,
all of your life has passed only a little you have more)

hum-safar le gaya manzile sab meri,
ban gaye faasle kurbatein sab meri, (kurbatein-nearness)
(My co-passenger has taken all of my
destinations, so all of my nearness became distant)

aaye woh ban ke kyon naa'sahe ab mere, (naa'sahe-advisor)
baD gai aaj fir mushkile sab meri,
(Why you came as an advisor to me, today,
all of my problems got raised again)

shok-e-husn ka ab kare bhi to kya, (shok-e-husn- fond of beauty)
woh gaye to gai, laz'zate sab meri, (lazzate- taste)
(What I do with fond of beauty since
she has gone, I have lost all of my tastes)


aaye kyon mai'qade mein mere saam'ne, (maikade- wine bar)
dekh li ru-ba-ru fitrate sab meri, (rubaru- face to face, fitrate-habits)

(Why you come in wine-shop before me,
now you have seen all of my habits face to face)

kah nahi paaye hum baat dil ki unhe,
rah gai dil mein fir hasrate sab meri, (hasrate-desires)
(I could not tell her matter of my heart,
all of my desires remained in my heart again)

ek sazda kiya, kya mene yaar ko, (sazda-prostration)
khaaq mein mil gai, zan'nate sab meri, (khaaq- dust, zannate-heavens )

(Just once I prostrate to my beloved,
and then I lost all of my heavens)


woh mile khwab mein gar 'feroz' ab kahin,
puri ho jayengi man'nate sab meri, (mannate-wishes)


(Hey, Feroz , If I meets her again even in

TuTe sapne sabhi par ghuma rah gaya, (ghuma-proud)
khat'ma sham'mA hu'ii bas dhuAN rah gaya, (shamma-candle)
(all of dreams got broken but proud is still there
as the candle is over but smoke is still there)

nA ruko ishque ki akhri had hai ye,
woh mila fir nahi jo yahan rah gaya,
(Don't stay here, it is the last boundary of love
people are still missing, those stayed here)

aq'sa koi nahin ab kahin Aankh mein, (aqsa-image)
ek chehra terA jA-bajA rah gaya, (jabaja- everywhere)
(There is no more image left in my eyes
I see everywhere only your face )

woh mila is tarah Aaj humse gale,
dar'miyAN fir bhi ek faasla rah gaya, (darmiyan-between)
(Today, She embraced me in such a way,
a distance between us was still there)

hum-safar woh nahin aayegA ab yahaaN,(humsafer-co-passenger)
bewafA hi woh tha bewafa rah gaya,
(That co-passenger [i.e. the beloved] won't come here
she/he was a disloyal so the disloyal is left)

mud'date ho gai us'se nazre mile, (muddate- a long duration)
fir bhi nazro mein woh bAr'hA rah gaya, (barha- usually, several times)
(I have not seen her since a long time
but still her image, I see several times in my eyes)

mujhse naaraz woh mein karuN bhi to kya,
kya khatA thi meri kyon khafA rah gayA,
(If she is annoyed with me, what can I do,
I made no mistake so, why she is annoyed)

rango mein ek be-rang gul-e-chaman hoon,

kyon dohraye mujhe koii har baar,
bhule se kah diya jo, wo sukhan hoon,(sukhan-statement)
(No one likes to repeat me,
I am like an unwanted statement)

mujhe jism pe kya koii sajaye ,
mein ek si'yah pera'hane kafan hoon,
(siyah-dark, parhan-dress, kafan-shroud)
(How can someone decorate himself by me,
as I am like a dress of dark shroud)

wahaan hai na duaa'oN ko rasa'ii,(rasai- approach)
khuda jane kis aalam mein dafan hoon,
(Even, blessings can not reach there,
God only knows, where I am buried)

fir milenge kabhi sekro lamhe hai,

choT hai ye nai zakhm bhi gahre hai,
(Hey, my heart don't be impatient, keep patience
first the wounds, you got, are new and second they are deep)

jhute yaaro ki galiyo se ab nA guzar,
mai'kade jaane ke aour bhi raste hai, (maikade-wine bar)
(Don't go through the street of your false friends,
You choose any other way to reach the wine bar)

is jahan mein koi tera apna nahin,
sab haqiqat hai jhoot sapne hi sach'che hai,
(In this world no one is your friend
the truth, you see is, an illusion, only dreams are true)

nahi woh jaane ye cheez kya hai,
jo mai'kade se bane hai gaafil , (maikade-wine bar, gaafil- ignorant )
zarA unhe bhi batA de sAki,
jahaaN mein ye lA-jawAb aa'i, (la-jawab- unique in any feature)

humne pAyA khuda kahin bhi nahin,
har jagah aap bandagi mein mile, (bandagi- submission to God)
(I didn't find the God anywhere
I found you, all the time, when I submit myself to God)

muskura kar mile woh is tarah,
jese chand ful saad'gi me mile, (saadgi-modesty)
(She meets me smiling in such a way
as I got some flowers modestly decorated)

qaid ho jayen teri zulfo mein bas
ye saza ab diwaangi mein mile,
(I want to be detained in your hairs
I want this as a punishment for being crazy about you)

mohabbat mein kabhi ae'sa bhi hu'A,
hosh aaya to be-khudi mein mile, (bekhudi- unconscious )
(In love, sometimes this unusual happen,
when I got conscious, I come to know, I am still unconscious)

kabhi zindagi ko sisak'te dekha hai, (sisakte-crying)
kataro mein humne guzarte dekha hai,
(I saw the life crying
and passing in the rows)

pyaari se aankho ke nanhe se sapno,
ko humne bhi palko se gir'te dekha hai,
(I saw, the little dreams of beautiful eyes,
shedding from eyelids)

kabhi sah'mi sah'mi jawAni ko humne,
thaki haari saanso se ladte dekha hai,
(Sometimes I saw the scared youth,
fighting with tired breath)

kabhi raat dhalne se pahle hi humne,
un roshan chirago ko bhujhte dekha hai,
(Sometimes, I saw, putting off enlighten lamps
before end of the night)

khushi se chamaqti nigaaho ko humne,
ghaTa'oN ki tar'ha baraste dekha hai,
(Sometimes, I saw, the brighten eyes of happiness
shedding tears like a cloud)

su'ne su'ne chehro ki bujhi si aankho,
mein ummid ko humne Tahal'te dekha hai,
(I saw, roaming a hope in the tired eyes
of hopeless faces)

khushi se kabhi marne walo ko humne,
jine ki khwahish mein marte dekha hai,
(I saw, the persons grappling to survive
once, those were happily ready to die)

maikhane se jab jab chali mahki hawa to khat likha,
jab shaam ka mahtaab se daaman saja to khat likha,
(when the fragrant wind blows from wine shop, I wrote the letter)
(when the evennig was decorated by the moon, I wrote the letter)

ghumnaami ki naa daastan, naa raat ki tanhaa'ii'ya,
raatoN mein jab hone lagi mahfil jawa to khat likha,
It is neither story of defame, nor loneliness of nights
when the party became charmed in the night, I wrote the letter)

kahne ko hai chArA'garAN hamdard mere bhi magar
tan'haa'ii'yo mein dard jab had se baDa to khat likha,
(chara'garah- doctors)
(Just to say, I have doctors as friends,
but when I was alone, and got pain, I wrote the letter)

kaasid na khush ho ye ko'ii paigahm khushi'yo ka nahin,
roti hu'ii aankho ne jab ruk kar kahA to khat likha,
(kasid-postman, paigham- message)
(Postman don't be happy, it doesn't contain any good message,
when, crying eyes got stop and started to tell, I wrote the letter)

har-su yahaaN sar'gam baje kesi fiza jAdoobhari,
moshi'qi ka hamko chada halka nasha to khat likha,
(harsu-everywhere, moshiqui-music)
(Everywhere the music is playing, How the scene is magical
when I got ecstasy in music, I wrote the letter)

apni sada kisse kahe har ek ki apni sada, (sada- voice)
kaali ghaTA ne jab kahi apni sada to khat likha,
(Who would hear my voice, everyone wanted to tell,
when the black cloud finished his tell, I wrote the letter)

saare sukhan ko mukht'sar humne kiya to khat likha,

ab to har shab hi ye sa'maa hota hai, (samaa- scene)

chand wirAne bhi chale aate hai, (wirane- a lonely place where no one live)
aour haal'e dil fir bayaaN hota hai, (bayaa-express)
(Some wirane come, and condition of
my heart is expressed before them)

kab'ra pe meri jab bhi aate hai woh,
fir jite hai fir dil jawA hotA hai,
(Whenever she comes on my graveyard
I got alive and my heart become young)

jindagi ki har ek thokar mein mere,
kyon tera sang-e-aastAN hota hai,(sang e aastan-stone of door stairs)
(Whenever, I got a stumble in my life,
why It was always yours door-stone)

yaa khuda ! meri kya khata kyon har bAr,
sirf mera hi imt'haan hota hai,
(Hey God ! what mistakes I made,
why all the time you examine only me)

jab woh dete hai mere dil pe dastaq,
ek wiraanna aour bhi wirAnA hota hai,
(when she knocks the door of my heart
a lonely place become more lonely)

khushq aankho mein ashq to hai lekin,* (khushq-dry, ashq-tears)
khune jigar bhi to yahaN hota hai, * (khune jigar- blood of heart)
(The dry eyes have some tears but
the blood of heart could also be here)

ab kahan unhe yaad kar pate hum,
waqt-e-fursat har roz kahaan hota hai,
(I don't regularly miss her
since I don't have free time daily)

tumne kaha jo kal to mujhe yaad aa gayaa,
ek roz woh bhi mujhse ye keh kar chalaa gayaa
(when you told me to come tomorrow, I remind, once

us ajnabi ki ko'ii nishA'ni nahin rahi,
duniyA ki bhid mein na jaane kahaan gayaa,

pathrili aankho ko bhi wo rona sikha gayaa,

is gali ke fasaane yaad Aaye, (fasane-stories)
dekh pat'thar diwane yaad aaye,
(I reminded stories related with this lane
I reminded some crazy people when I saw stones)

Na faham tha na mas'la'hat baqi, (faham- intelligence, maslahat- conscience)
ishq ke wo zamAne yaad aaye,
(No intelligence and no conscience was more,
I reminded the time when I was in love)

chand uzde gharo ko dekha to,
fir se komi tarAne yaad aaye, (komi tarane- songs of unity)
(When I saw some deserted houses
I reminded songs of fraternity (unity))

dekh jalti chitaaye, tere khat,
apne haathon jalaane yaad aaye,
(When I saw cremation
I reminded, How I burnt your letters by my hand)

maut ko bhi na aane ke shayad,
teri tarah bahaane yaad aaye,
(The death learned excuses, not to come, like you)

na raha humse ko'ii man'sub to, (mansub-related)
apno ke dil dukhAne yaad aaye,
(When none is related to me,
I reminded, how I hurt my friends)

teri aankho ke ashqo se 'Feroz', (ashqo-tears)
motiyoN ke khazane yaad aaye,
('Feroz' ! When I saw tears in your eyes
I reminded treasures of pearls)

Ashiqui ae wafa tu kahan mein kahan,
(Hey life tell me, where are you and where am I,
Hey loyalty where is the love and where I am )

dard-e-dil tu bata marz ki kya sifA, (marz-disease, sifa-remedy)
dard ki ae dawa, tu kahan mein kahan,
(hey pain of my heart you tell what is the
remedy of the disease and the remedy,
you tell, where are you and where am I)

ab kafas hi yahaaN aashiyAnA mera, (kafas-cage, aashiyana-home)
umra bhar ki saza, tu kahan mein kahan,
(Now the cage is my home hey the,
life imprisonment tell me where you are
and where I am)

mein khuda se tujhe maang bhi lu to kya,
baa-asar ae dua, tu kahan mein kahan, (ba-asar- effective)
(It wont work if I ask for you to God
hey effective prayer where are you and where I am)

uski aankho ki kis tarah tArif karuN,
uski chashm-e-adA, tu kahan mein kahan, (chashm-e-ada- style of eyes)

ek sapna satAtA rahaa,
koi apna rulAtA rahaa,

(One dream was irritating me
someone of mine was making me cried)

jo kabhi paas tha mere who,
dur se fir bulAtA rahaa,
(One who was near to me
was calling me after going away from me)

baad mud'dat mila jo use, (mud'dat- long duration)
baat dil ki sunAtA rahaa,
(when, after a long duration, I saw her,
I was telling of my heart)

geet bhule dino ka bhulA,
der tak gungunata rahaa,
(The song that I have forgotten in the past
I sang for a long time )

khwab mein aaye jab woh sanam,
nind mein muskurata rahaa,
(My beloved came in my dream
So, I was smiling in sleep)
